Hello, my name is Changil Jeffrey Moon

I'm a

I am a senior at Choate Rosemary Hall, and I am interested in computational linguistics and robotics. Starting from June 2024, I am pursuing a research opportunity at the Yale Vision Lab focused on depth estimation with camera and radar sensors. Apart from the depth estimation research, I am also conducting research in NLP, developing an optimized translation model for Jejueo by leveraging language-specific characteristics. I was awarded the Jon Chapitis Spirit of Innovation Award and the Next Step Inventors award at the Connecticut Science and Engineering Fair on a project that I worked on with my brother - “Construction of a Low-cost, Accurate Liquid Handling Device with 3D Printing for Polymerase Chain Reaction”. About me

I am a rising senior at Choate Rosemary Hall, originally from South Korea. I have a passion for sports, particularly playing basketball and football, and I also enjoy watching basketball. Before starting homework or any project, I like playing a game of Minesweeper, with my best score being 137 seconds on https://minesweeperonline.com. When it comes to reading which I do at least 15 minutes every day, I enjoy a wide range of genres including classical literature, textbooks, and short stories, in both English and Korean. I also spend a significant amount of time working on various projects of different sizes. One of my smaller projects involved creating a 3D-printed piece that allowed me to hold a book open with one hand while walking. Currently, I am working on a mobile robot that navigates using a camera sensor, powered by a Jetson Nano, which I'm using for the first time.

Experience

Jul 2023 - Aug 2024

TruDiary

Created a web application prototype as a team for TruDiary, a digital health company aiming to help BIPOC women in all stages of pregnancy, that allows BIPOC women to locate other BIPOC women within a 10-mile radius and communicate with them online or in-person. Led the development process of both the frontend and the backend, using React, Node.js, HTTPS, and MongoDB for the development while utilizing Git to work simultaneously with remote members.

Jun 2024

Yale Vision Lab

Researched an optimized depth estimation method using a camera image and 4D radar point cloud as input. Developed a model that first performs monocular depth estimation and extracts the scale information from the radar point cloud to create a metric-scaled depth map, outperforming previous baselines in both loss and complexity.
